Last time I checked there are a lot of BMW GS owners who ride off-road and this sort of debate directly affects many of us. What, he forgot to put the pissy little oBMWc in the post somewhere? The presentation was made by BMW and BMW MOA dignitaries. Norm's wife, Denise, was also there. Hundreds, or more likely thousands of riders know Norm. For decades, he has been the point man for BMW demo rides and a fixture at rallies and motorcycle events where BMW participates. Norm Smith is the very best of the good guys. An avid and adventurous rider, Norm has ridden across Europe and Asia with Helge Pedersen. He is also an avid skier. Norm is officially retired from Alem (BMW's demo bike truck contractor), allowing him to finally be awarded the Friend of the Marque. For years, BMW riders have been proposing him for the Award, but his employment always caused some conflict with the rules. You can see a photo of Norm here, as well as an account of his ride across Eurasia. Jim Shaw Hoping this is considered on topic. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Dec 2007 13:37:36 -0500 From: "Brian Curry" <bmwbrian@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [BMWMc] Friend of the Marque On 12/31/07, Jim Shaw <jimdshaw@comcast.net> wrote: > Local spies at the New York Motorcycle Show tell me that Norm Smith has > been presented with the Friend of the Marque by BMW.
